Emma trained at 'Performers College',gaining her teaching qualifications with distinction,and started her performing career working for Brian Rogers in summer season with the late Danny la Rue,and at Wembley stadium with Sir Cliff Richard. Emma then travelled extensively,working for Princess Cruises in the Carribbean and Alaska,and for choreographer Robert Wheeler in Malaysia and Thailand as both dancer and dance captain. For Alan Harding, Emma toured the U.K. and the World with 'Spirit of the Dance',performing in Europe and countries such as Dubai,Australia,India,and U.S.A including featured appearances on 'MTV Brazil' and the BBC's 'Generation Game.' After two seasons with the 'Thursford Christmas Spectacular',Emma toured the U.K. with 'RAW',a tap and percussion show which also included workshops and an event at Wembley Arena with Jonathan Ross and Geri Halliwell. In 2002 Emma began teaching at the prestigious 'Phil Winstons Theatreworks' in Blackpool,where she still teaches,preparing students for a career in dance and dance teaching.Recent teaching includes 'the Betty Chapelle Dance centre' Wakefield,and 'Stalder Academy' Sale,covering all subjects and ages. Emma is a fellow and examiner of the I.D.T.A(international dance teacher's association)and as such,examines all levels up and down the country,and frequently gives lectures to pupils and teachers alike.As chairman of the IDTA Northwest area commitee,her duties include organising their annual 'Children's day',where dance schools, from across the country,gather to take part in workshops culminating in a stage performance. Emma has choreographed numerous Christmas productions for Pele's top venue ,the Lowry theatre as well as other theatres throughout the U.K.She has choreographed for 'Qdos',trains the 'Billy Elliot' boys for the hit West End Musical,and has been invited as guest choreographer for a number of summer schools and dance school shows.

Sarah-Jayne Ellicott BA (Hons) A.I.D.T.A ,  A.N.A.T.D

teacher south manchester dance academy,stockportSarah-Jayne was born feet first and has been dancing ever since! After passing her associate examinations in 2008 with the NATD, she went on to further her passion for dance in education by studying a degree in '''Dance Education and Performance at the University of Central Lancashire.


In 2011, Sarah-Jayne joined SMDA(formerly the Evans School of Dance) where she studied for her associate examinations with the IDTA,under the direction of Miss. Judith Thompson.


Sarah-Jayne has a love of music and drama and also holds several professional qualifications with the RNCM and LAMDA. In her free time, Sarah-Jayne pursues her love of Argentine Tango and Salsa.


Alongside teaching, Sarah-Jayne is currently studying an MA in Dance and Somatic Well-being (Connections to the living body), and is particularly interested in the integration of Somatic Movement Education into the healthcare industry.


Debbie Hunt  A.N.A.T.D

Debbdancing instructor at South Manchester Dance Academy,stockport,heaton moor topie started dancing at the age of 5 and quickly got the "dancing bug".  She spent all of her free time dancing, whether this was at class, performing on stage, choreographing dance numbers or helping to teach the younger children.  She collected many medals and exam successes along the way to achieving her professional teaching qualification at the age of 23, and continued to perform and choreograph musicals and pantomimes with a number of local amateur theatre companies.

Debbie has been teaching at the South Manchester Dance Academy (formerly The Evans School of Dancing) for over 25 years.

She has taught from tots to adults, and is proud to have successfully trained a number of students to become qualified teachers.


 In addition to being a key member of the teaching staff,Debbie organises our uniform, co-ordinates our exam days and is the school "hairdressing expert"!!
